Message CPD3823 EC0002 During Save

Troubleshooting

Problem

Message CPD3823 EC0002 was received during a full system save.

Resolving The Problem

Message CPD3823 EC0002:

Message:  File "< R03M00505000000000" not saved.
Cause:  File "/QIBM/ProdData/ServExp/classes/QSF604465769DG10004R03M00505000000000" was not saved because it has an associated Java program that could not be saved. The error code is x'0002'.  Common error codes are:
-- 0002: The Java program target release is more recent than the target release on the SAV command."

This was for object /QIBM/ProdData/ServExp/classes/QSF604465769DG10004R03M00505000000000; however, there were several other QSF* objects listed as well.

The QSF* objects are old PTF objects that were not cleaned up. The /QIBM/ProdData/ServExp directory is associated with products 5769AS1 and 5769DG1. These are products that are no longer supported on V5 and later systems. If these products exist on the system, they can be removed with DLTLICPGM. The /QIBM/ProdData/ServExp directory can also be deleted. After this directory is deleted, the next save should complete normally. The following command can be used to delete this directory: RMVDIR DIR('/QIBM/ProdData/ServExp') SUBTREE(*ALL)

Notes:
1. The save may also post errors for other objects that are not able to be saved in the /QIBM/ProdData/ServExp directory. Because this directory is for old products that are no longer supported, the solution is to delete the /QIBM/ProdData/ServExp directory.
2. If message CPD3823 EC0002 is triggered during a full system save and the object referenced is not in directory '/QIBM/ProdData/ServExp', you should refer to Technote N1011452, Message CPD3823 EC0002 During Save of Java Class Files for resolution.
