Memory access error when running SET WRITE SUSPEND

Troubleshooting


Problem

When issuing SET WRITE SUSPEND command, DB2 may fail to acquire the locking "suspendIOCBLatch" due to a write activity which can't be forced by the engine.

Symptom

The following entry can be logged in the db2diag.log file:

          • FUNCTION: DB2 UDB, base sys utilities, sqleDoMemberSuspendProcessing, probe:3695
            MESSAGE : ZRC=0x870F0035=-2029060043=SQLO_NOTAVAIL
                    "Cannot honor the conditional request"
                    DIA8531C A memory access error has occurred.
            DATA #1 : String, 67 bytes
            Failed to get the suspendIOCBLatch; please retry SET WRITE SUSPEND.
