Maximum size of the ACTIVELOGSIZE server option

Product Documentation

Abstract

You can set the ACTIVELOGSIZE server option up to a maximum of 524288.

Content

With Tivoli Storage Manager server Version 7.1.0 and later, the maximum value that can be specified on the ACTIVELOG server option has increased from 131072 to 524288. This translates into a maximum active log size of 512GB.

If the Tivoli Storage Manager server is busy, increasing the size of ACTIVELOGSIZE server option helps the server to operate without filling the active log.

The following impact applies to increasing the value of the ACTIVELOGSIZE server option:

  • Extra disk space is required.
  • If a crash occurs, a server restart might take longer due to the amount of time that DB2 requires for crash recovery. This could happen after a DB2 failure at a point in time when the active log use is high. The length of time for the server restart depends on whether the active log is full and the number of in-flight transactions at the time of the crash.
