Abstract
Some of the Datacap OCR recognition actions attempt to access the Internet the first time you invoke OCR on a batch of documents. On systems that are not connected to the internet, or if internet access is blocked by a firewall or security software, the unsuccessful access attempt might cause delays when you try to run OCR or rotate an image in each batch. There are several solutions from which you can choose to restore performance.
Content
When the Datacap OCR_s and OCR_sr recognition actions and the RotateImage actions are called on a batch for the first time, they can take longer than 30 seconds to run. This delay occurs because these actions check for Certificate Revocation Lists (CRL) before they run. You can minimize this delay by disabling the CRL check for systems that cannot access the internet.
You can disable the CRL check by completing the steps in one of the following 3 options:
Option 1: Edit Group Policy for all of the users on the computer
You must be a member of the Administrator group to disable CRL checks on each computer.
- Click Start, type gpedit.msc in the Search programs and files box, and press Enter.
- In the console tree under Local Computer Policy\Computer Configuration\Windows Settings\Security Settings, click Public Key Policies.
- Double-click Certificate Path Validation Settings, and then click the Revocation tab.
- Check Define these policy settings and select the policy settings that you want to apply.
- Click OK to apply the new settings.
Option 2: Disable checking for the service account on Internet Explorer
You can use this option if the Rulerunner or Quattro service account can log in to the machine.
- Log in with that account and select Control Panel>Internet Options.
- Click the Advanced tab and go to the Security section.
- Uncheck the Check for publisher's certificate revocation option. Be careful not to uncheck the similarly named Check for server certificate revocation option.
- Click OK to save the changes.
Option 3: Disable checking for the service account in the Registry
If the Rulerunner service account is not permitted to login interactively, you can change the Software Publishing registry key associated with the service account.
- Find the SID for the service account by looking in the registry under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\ Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\ ProfileList. The SID is the entry in the ProfileList whose ProfileImagePath value refers to the service account user.
- Browse to HKEY_USERS\<SID>\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\WinTrust\Trust Providers\Software Publishing and replace <SID> with the SID value of the service account user that you found in step 1. The default State value is 23c00 (HEX) < enable>
- Modify the State value to 23e00 (HEX) to disable CRL checking.
