MAXAVA - MAXSYS Library IBM i Commands

Troubleshooting

Problem

Third-party product Maxava (Maximum Availability) has created a library, MAXSYS, with duplicates of some IBM i commands.

Resolving The Problem

Maxava (Maximum Availability), a third-party software provider that provides replication type functionality, has created a library MAXSYS that has been placed in front of QSYS.

In this MAXSYS library, duplicates of various IBM i commands are created.

These duplicate commands call a program in library NOMAX (program name MXCPPNULL is one example), and this CPP runs some code within Maxava to check whether an object should be replicated. Then the original IBM QSYS command is called.

Therefore, while debugging an issue and you find that the command you are calling is really coming from MAXSYS, it should not cause an issue; however, to verify this, you can specify QSYS as part of the command.
