How To
Summary
As an example to make SNMP graph on RTM, this technote describes the procedure of making network traffic graph by using Cacti's SNMP templates.
Steps
1. Install and configure SNMP:
Install and configure SNMP on both RTM server and the destination host and ensure snmpwalk command run on RTM server host can get proper response from the remote host. Refer to SNMP documents for further details.
2. Create a device, on which to create SNMP graph:
Go to RTM web page, Console -> Management -> Devices and click "Add" at upper right. Define following parameters in next page and click "Create" once the parameters are all set:
- Description: Give any meaningful description
- Hostname: Set to the FQHN or IP address of the destination host
- Host Template: Set to "Generic SNMP-enabled Host" or "Net-SNMP Host" or other SNMP enabled host templates on your RTM system.
- Downed Device Detection: Set to "SNMP Uptime"
- SNMP Version: Select the proper SNMP version according to SNMP setting and configure on the RTM server on the destination host
- SNMP Community: Input the SNMP community name according to SNMP setting and configure on the RTM server on the destination host
Optional, set the other parameters
3. Verify the new device is created:
Once the new device is correctly created, a "Save Successfully" message shows with SNMP Information section in next page like the following screen snapshot. If the device can't be created or there's any abnormal in SNMP Information section, correct the device setting or SNMP configure

4. Verify the "SNMP - Internet Statistics" Data Query is associated with the new device:
On RTM web page, go to Console -> Management -> Devices and click the device created. On the device page, scroll-down to the bottom of the page and find the "Associate Data Queries" section. Check whether the "SNMP - Interface Statistics" is listed in the section. If not, select it in the "Add Data Query" drop-down list and click "Add" at the right end of the line

5. Create graphs for this new device:
- On RTM web page, go to Console -> Management -> Devices and click the new device created. On upper right, click the "Create Graphs for this Host".
- In next page, in Graph Types drop-down list, select "SNMP - Interface Statistics", the data queries for each network interfaces on the destination host will be listed in the Data Query section:

- Check the check-box at the right-end of all the interfaces interested. For example, in the screen snapshot above, we only interest on ethernet interface, so the eno16780032 is checked and the loopback interface is unchecked. Click "Create" after all the parameters are set in this page. A message show in next page to confirm the graph is created
6. Verify the graph is created successfully:
Wait for 15 minutes then go to Console -> Management -> Devices, click the new device created. On upper right, click the "Graph List", the graph created should display in the list
