Making a Dock Appointment

Procedure

To enter or update an appointment follow these steps:

  1. Select a stop on the Itinerary page and click Appointment.The Dock Appointments page opens.
  2. Set the Type to either Pickup or Delivery.By default Sterling TMS createsthe first stop as a pickup appointment and the last stop as a deliveryappointment.
  3. Enter the appointment date and time. There are three waysto enter appointments:
    • Fixed
      • Enter the start time for the appointment in the From fieldand enter the end time of the appointment in the To field.
      • By default Sterling TMS usesthe start and end of the planned departure window or planned arrivalwindow.
    • No Earlier Than
      • Enter the From date and time and changethe To date and time to be blank. The pickupor delivery can take place any time that day after the time you specify.
      • For example you enter 22 August at 2:00 p.m. as the From time.The carrier can make the pickup or delivery any time after 2:00 p.m.on 22 August.
    • No Later Than
      • Enter the To date and time and change the From dateand time to be blank. The pickup or delivery can take place any timethat day before the time you specify.
      • For example you enter 22 August at 6:00 p.m. as the To time.The carrier can make the pickup or delivery any time before 6:00 p.m.on 22 August.
  4. Select a reason code to explain the update:
    • Select the Reason Code Group such as Shipper Carrieror Weather.
    • Select a Reason Code from the second drop-downlist. The list is filtered based on the group you selected.
  5. Enter an optional Confirmation Number ifyou want to keep this for your records.
  6. To delete an existing appointment select the CancelAppointment check box.
  7. Click Save to create the appointment.
    Notes:
    • You can only make one appointment at a time on the Dock Appointmentspage. For example make a pickup appointment and click Save toreturn to the Itinerary page. Then make the delivery appointment.
    • If you make an appointment for an order on a multi-stop shipment Sterling TMS also setsthe appointment for other orders that share the same origin or destination.
    • Instead of using the Dock Appointments page you can also usean editing shortcut in the Execution module. Double-click any of thepickup or delivery appointment columns on the Active tab.The Appointment Edit page opens where you can quickly enter or updatean appointment.
