MAKEPLAN - Oracle ORA-04031: unable to allocate nn bytes of shared memory

Troubleshooting


Problem

The Tivoli Workload Scheduler (TWS) MAKEPLAN job goes to the abend state if there is a failure when objects cannot be loaded from the database. There are specific symptoms when there is insufficient shared memory allocated in Oracle.

Symptom

MAKEPLAN joblog:
AWSJPL006E An internal error has occurred. A database object 'workstation' cannot be loaded from the database.

WebSphere SystemOut.log:
AWSJDB801E An internal error has been found while accessing the database. The internal error message is: "ORA-04031: unable to allocate 3896 bytes of shared memory ("shared pool","select MPR_NAME, MPR_VALUE f...","sga heap(1,0)","kglsim object batch")".
