Troubleshooting
Problem
This technote identifies a possible workaround for Macro Security errors that you can receive in Microsoft® Word when working on a IBM® Rational® RequisitePro® Offline document. These Macros Security errors occur when you perform right-click operations such as "New Requirement" and "Requirement Properties", return the following Microsoft message: The macro cannot be found or has been disabled because of your Macro security settings.
Cause
This is due to the template file normal.dot becoming corrupt.
Resolving The Problem
An Offline document should not display the New Requirement and Requirement Properties RequisitePro operations when right-clicking on the document. To inhibit these options from the right-click context-menu, the following steps should be taken:
- Delete all instances of the normal.dot template file from your system PC.
- Bring up Microsoft Word.
- Create a temporary blank Word document and Save it.
- Close Word, and the temporary blank document may now be deleted.
This process generates a new copy of normal.dot and the two RequisitePro right-click operations will no longer display.
For Offline documents, the following top menu-bar RequisitePro options should be used:
RequisitePro > Requirement > Create
RequisitePro > Requirement > Delete (Unmark)
Note: If the RequisitePro menu-bar options are not available (cannot be seen right next to the Table menu-bar option), then the Microsoft Word Macros Security setting may be set to High and needs to be lowered to either Medium (user will be prompted for macros to be enabled in the Offline document) or Low (all macros will be enabled without prompts).
