Question
LTL Freight Classes
Answer
LTL Freight Classes
When you add an LTL contract section you specify how youwant Sterling TMS to apply rates to your shipments based on the freightclass of the shipment.
You have the following options:
- Shipment Freight Classes
- Section FAK Freight Classes
- Specified Mapping for Freight Classes
These freight class options give you great flexibility in defininghow you want to apply LTL rates.
For example:
- You deliver LTL shipments to Canada where using the shipmentclass is common. You define a contract section and set RateClass By to Shipment. You can definelanes that cover your Canadian deliveries.
- You deliver a limited set of products to one region of the country. You define a contract section and set Rate Class By to SectionFAK. You can define lanes that cover deliveries withinthis region.
- You have a diverse product line that you deliver throughout theU.S. You define a contract section and set Rate Class By to SpecifiedMapping. You can define lanes that cover all your deliveries.
