IBM Support

LPM Validation Warning, i.e. HSCLA4CD

Troubleshooting

Problem

Live Partition Mobility (LPM) Validation completes with Warning message(s).

Symptom

Example:

HSCLA4CD
The management console cannot maintain the source Virtual I/O Server (VIOS) slot number for virtual fibre channel adapter on the destination VIOS partition.

Environment

PowerVM VIOS 2.2 managed by HMC

Diagnosing The Problem

Upon completion of the LPM Validation process, verify the "Errors" and "Detailed information" sections, as shown below, for any additional messages:

image-20180920150207-2

If the "Errors" and/or "Detailed information" sections have any messages, they should be corrected before doing another validation.  However, if both sections are blank, and only "Warnings" were generated, you may proceed with the actual migration operation.

Resolving The Problem

Warning messages seen after a validation process are only informational messages to be considered more of an FYI.  They are not expected to prevent a migration process from completing.

Consider the example:

HSCLA4CD
The management console cannot maintain the source Virtual I/O Server (VIOS) slot number for virtual fibre channel adapter on the destination VIOS partition.

In this case, the HSCLA4CD warning is simply to make you aware that the virtual fibre channel adapter ID (slot #) used on the source VIOS is not available for use on the target VIOS.  Therefore, it can be expect to be different after the migration.
