Problem

LPM Validation fails with error HSCLA2B7

Symptom

HSCLA2B7 The HMC was unable to find a valid mover service partition (MSP) on managed system <managed_system_name>. MSPs must exist on both the source and destination managed systems, and they must be able to communicate in both directions with their partner MSP on the other managed system in order to be considered capable of performing an active partition migration. Verify your migration setup with correctly configured and communicating MSPs on both source and destination managed systems, and try the operation again.

Cause

The error indicates there are no Virtual I/O Servers on the specified <managed_system_name> configured as a Mover Service Partition (MSP).

Environment

PowerVM VIOS 2.2 managed by an HMC

Diagnosing The Problem

Ensure that the Mover Service Partition is enabled on one or more source and destination Virtual I/O Server partitions. Verify if the VIO Server(s) on the  the error was logged againt are enabled as MSP.

Resolving The Problem

The Mover Service Partition must be enabled on one or more source and destination VIOS partitions.  Ensure it is enabled on at least, one of the VIOS for the <managed_system_name> mentioned in the error.  For more details see Enabling the Mover Service Partitions.
