Resolving The Problem
This document explains how to ensure e-mail addresses are sent in lower-case characters when it is required.
By default, the e-mail addresses defined in the WRKNAMSMTP or WRKDIRE command are converted to uppercase, even if entered in lower-case. The IBM iSeries family of servers is restricted as far as case and length at this time. However, if the user wants to be able to use lower-case e-mail addresses, the SMTP Route field must be used. In addition, place the full SMTP name in this field. For example: myuser@mydomain.com.
If the SMTP user ID and domain fields are used, the characters for the Domain will be converted to uppercase, even if typed in lowercase.
NOTE: The SNDSMTPEMM command does not support the use of the SMTP Route field and requires that SMTP Name and SMTP Domain are defined. If SMTP Route has been defined for a user, their attempts to use the SNDSMTPEMM command will fail with a CPF9897 with a TCP5311 in their joblog, indicating the user does not have a SMTP userid and SMTP domain.
