Question
Locked Status
Answer
Locked Status
Sterling TMS setsthe status to Locked for the following scenario:
- Your organization is profiled to do carrier selection outsideof Sterling TMS.
- The shipment reaches the tender time fence and no carrier is assignedto the shipment.
When a shipment is locked and you do carrier selection outsideof Sterling TMS youhave the following options:
- Select the carrier using another freight planning system and submitthe shipment to Sterling TMS again. You can submit the shipment as an EDI 204 update or XML with thecarrier SCAC assigned and the Load Tender (LT) indicator set.
- Do not deal with the shipment. The shipment is not processed in Sterling TMS.
Sterling TMS alsosets the status to Locked when the followingsituation occurs:
- You submit a shipment to Sterling TMS and the shipmentrequires a specific mode such as LTL or parcel.
- Your shipper administrator has not defined a tendering strategyfor that mode. As a result the system treats the shipment as if itis being tendered outside of Sterling TMS.
To correct this issue follow these steps:
- Add a tendering strategy for the desired mode or change an existingtendering strategy to do carrier selection in Sterling TMS.
- After the tendering strategy is ready edit the shipment to changethe end of the planned departure window by 1 minute or more. Thischange will trigger Sterling TMS toreset the tender time fence and change the status from Locked to Unplanned.
