Locating the Total Size of a Library and its Objects

Troubleshooting

Problem

This document explains how to locate the total size of a library, including the size of each object in it.

Resolving The Problem

The Display Library (DSPLIB) command can provide this information. You should issue the following command:

DSPLIB lib-name OUTPUT(*PRINT)

View the bottom of the resulting spooled file. It will show the sum of the sizes of the objects residing in the library, as well as the size of the library object itself.  The size is shown in bytes.  The size of the library description is usually negligible when compared to the total size of the objects in the library.
