Localizing Template Formats

About this task

Afteryou create a new template for the selected document type and templatecode you can customize the new template for different locales. Youcan add modify or delete elements of the XSL as required. Howeverto customize the date and numeric values you must use the followingfunctions in the XSL:

  • formatDate($localeCode$Date): Formats the dateper locale. For example to localize the Proposal Date use formatDate($localeCode$proposalDate)
  • formatNumber($localeCode$number): Formats thenumber per locale. This is useful in defining locale specific decimalseparators that are used in numeric values. For example to localizethe order quantity use formatNumber($localeCode$orderQuantity)

To localize the newly created format performthe following steps:

Procedure

  1. From the Related Tasks panel click Localize tocreate another format for a different locale.
  2. The Create Locale Specific Format panel displaysthe details of the newly created template. Specify the following tocustomize the template for a different locale.
    1. Select a Locale from the drop-down list.
    2. Provide a meaningful name for the template format inthe Name box in the language of the selected locale.
    3. Enter a description for the template format in the Description box.You must enter the description in the locale specific language.
    4. The XSL of the newly created template is displayed inthe Format text area. Modify the XSL to suit locale specificrequirements. For example you can add proposal headings to be displayedin the locale specific language or remove attributes from the proposal.
  3. After the modification is complete perform any of thefollowing operations:
    1. Test: Click Test tovalidate the new template. If the test is successful a PDF is generatedand displayed in a new browser window. It is recommended to test theformat before saving the template.
    2. Save: Click Save tosave the new template.
    3. Restore Default Template: Click RestoreDefault Template to cancel the changes made and revertto the default template.

Results

After the new localized format is saved it appears inthe Formatting Templates panel under the format for whichthe localized format was created. Details of the new localized formatare displayed in the Manage Format For Locale panel.
