Listing the start-up parameters for Sybase SQL Anywhere 8

Problem

This tech note explains how to list all of the start-up parameters for a Sybase® SQL Anywhere® v. 8 service that is used with an IBM® Rational® test datastore.

Resolving The Problem

To see the list of parameters:

  1. Open a command window
  2. Change the directory to Rational\SQLAnywhere8\win32 directory
  3. Type dbsrv8 -? and then hit the Enter key, for example
    C:\Documents and Settings\UserName> cd \
    C:\> cd Program Files\Rational\SQLAnywhere8\win32
    C:\Program Files\Rational\SQLAnywhere8\win32> dbsrv8 -?

Alternatively, click the Start > Run, type in the following text and then click OK:
    "C:\Program Files\Rational\SQLAnywhere8\win32\dbsrv8" -?

Afterwards a page displays that lists all of the available parameters and a brief description of them.
