List (ls) Command

Question & Answer

Question

List (ls) Command

Answer

List (ls) Command

Use the List (ls)command to generate a list of available files. Most customers preferto use the ls command instead of the Directory(dir) command because the output is easierto parse.

The file names displayed have two parts: the firstpart usually contains 16 bytes and designates the file on Sterling B2B CollaborationNetwork. The second part has 8 bytes and uniquely identifies the file withinyour mailslot. The two parts are separated by a period and the 8-byteidentifier always begins with a pound (#) sign. A typical file nameis:

069292200010001U.#0692931

In subsequentget commands you can identify files using the long format or by usingthe 8-byte designation. The following two client commands would beequivalent to the FTP Gateway:

get 069292200010001U.#0692931get #0692931

Sample ls Command
