Workaround
This message does not affect system functionality.
This behavior can be corrected by downloading the latest version of the Peripheral Component Interconnect (PCI) ID's list file. There are two (2) methods for updating.
Method 1
Updating the PCI ID's list file online
- Connect to the Internet.
- Type online: # update-pciids to update the PCI.ids
Method 2
Downloading the new PCI ID's list file and over write the old one
- Download the latest PCI.ids from the following URL: http://pciids.sourceforge.net/
- Replace file /usr/share/hwdata/PCI.ids with the downloaded file.
Additional information
This message means that the current file /usr/share/hwdata/PCI.ids does not contain the device ID for the detected PCI hardware on the system.
Downloading a new version of the PCI ID's list file may give the user a better description of recognized hardware. Other than identification by lspci, however, the device will have no additional difference in operation and no impact on functionality.
