Resolving The Problem
Question: How can I limit a user to one workstation at a time?
Answer: The system value QLMTDEVSSN (limit device sessions) determines whether the same user can be signed on at more than one workstation at the same time. The possible values for the system value are as follows:
Allowing users to sign on only one workstation at a time is a good way to promote good security habits. If you limit users to one device, you discourage sharing user IDs and passwords. If people share user IDs, you lose both control and accountability. You can no longer tell who really does what functions on the system.
The recommended setting for the system value QLMTDEVSSN is 1, which limits users to a single device.
Note: Starting At R610, QLMTDEVSSN was changed. You still have the option to set this value to 0, which means 'do not limit the number of devices for the user'. You now can specify 1-9 to limit the users to 1-9 devices rather than just one device. In previous releases, the options were only 0 or 1 as discussed above.

| 0 | The system allows an unlimited number of users to be signed on at the same time with the same user profile. |
| 1 | A user profile can be used at only one device at a time. The user can have more than one session at the same device. |
