Limitations when using connection command blocks in Cognos Framework Manager

News

Abstract

This article describes limitations when using data server (data source) connections that include command blocks as metadata sources in IBM Cognos Framework Manager.

Content

When a model is created in Cognos Framework Manager, metadata is imported from a database. The connection to the database that is established by the import process supports only those connection command blocks that use string constants.

Connection command blocks that use various session variables and #macro# functions are not supported by the import service, which accesses the database for physical metadata. However, when data source connections are used to test the query subjects in Framework Manager, they can include command blocks that use session variables and #macro# functions.

Go to the IBM Cognos Analytics Knowledge Center for more information about importing metadata from data sources in Framework Manager, and connection command blocks.
