Question
(Legacy Interface): What is a trigger file and what happens if I include one in my DDF?
Answer
A trigger file is a common type of control file used to initiate further processing or retransmission.? Trigger files are typically created by the same application (e.g. IBM Digital Data Feed) that originally sent files into a file transfer system.
Within the ?Name and Other Details? tab of the IBM Digital Analytics Digital Data Feed configuration, there is an option to ?Include Trigger File?. ?
If a user opts to include a trigger file in their IBM Digital Data Feed (DDF) configuration, an empty .txt file (the trigger file) is sent after the DDF export job has finished processing.? The aim is to prevent clients (or, an automated script) from trying to access a DDF file while it is being processed.
An example of a trigger file?s name is ?99999999_DigitalData-Trigger_20141021.msg-sent.txt?.
