IBM Support

Launching DOORS results in "This database is configured to use system login names"

Troubleshooting

Problem

Attempts to launch IBM Rational DOORS results in the error "Error: This database is configured to use system login names, and there is no user account associated with your system login name. Login has failed."

Cause

The DOORS database is configured to use system usernames.

For Example:

'Mike Smith' is a DOORS user, and 'msmith' is his System username.

If a DOORS database is configured to use system usernames, in order for Mike Smith to log into DOORS, he will need to log into system as 'msmith'.

Resolving The Problem

To resolve this error, contact your DOORS Administrator.

If your DOORS database is configured to use system usernames, your DOORS Administrator can make sure the 'System username' is added in 'Edit User' window in the 'Details' tab, so it is associated with that DOORS user. See the screenshot below:

Note: The above screenshot is from DOORS > Tools > Manage Users > select the user and click 'Edit' button > Details tab.
