Troubleshooting
Problem
The message "Language version installed does not match language version you're about to upgrade to" indicates that you must ensure the language for IBM Access for Windows that is installed on the client matches the language that is on the source media.
Resolving The Problem
When upgrading IBM Access for Windows base code or service packs, you might get the following message:
Language version installed does not match language version you're about to upgrade to.
The installation of the base code or service pack will fail.
The message indicates that you must ensure the language for Access for Windows that is installed on the client must match the language that is on the source media you are using.
To determine what language is installed, on the client bring up Windows Explorer. Go to the directory where you installed Access for Windows. The default directory is C:\Program Files\IBM\Client Access. Find the MRI29xx folder. If you installed English SBCS, the MRI directory will be MRI2924. If you installed English DBCS, it will be MRI2984. If you installed another language, it will MRI29xx.
You can also verify the language installed on the client by going to the following registry setting:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Sofware\IBM\Client Access\CurrentVersion. Find the SourceInstallMRI in the name field. The data field will have MRI29xx listed which is the language that is currently installed.
The source media you are using will determine how to find out what language is installed. The MRI29xx directory that is listed is the language(s) available to be installed.
If you have a mismatch, uninstall Access for Windows on the client and reinstall from the source media. Or, run selective setup ensuring the source directory is pointed to a source media that has the same version of Access for Windows that is installed on the client and that it has the same language on the source media you used when you received the Language version installed does not match language version your about to upgrade to message. Then, install the correct language. Now the MRI29xx directories will match and you can upgrade Access for Windows base code and service packs successfully.
