Known Issue: Limitations for adding documents by dragging and dropping in Case Manager Client

Release Notes

Abstract

The drag and drop feature in Case Manager Client requires Firefox version 10 or later. Documents above a certain size cannot be added in Case Manager Client by using the drag and drop feature.

Content

The following issues can affect adding documents in Case Manage Client:

  • The application server performance tuning, such as the JVM size for WebSphere Application Server.
  • The type of documents that are added. For example, adding a text file might succeed, but adding an MP3 file of the same size might fail.
  • The size of the documents that are added.
  • The load on the web application server, the allocated memory heap, and the number of concurrent sessions.
  • Network connectivity.

Important: Test your environment by adding documents by using the drag and drop feature to determine the maximum file size that can be added successfully.

If the maximum file size for uploading documents by using the drag and drop feature is too low for your requirements, you can test your environment by adding documents by using the Add Document dialog box.

If the maximum file size for uploading documents by using the Add Document dialog box or the drag and drop feature is too low for your requirements, you can configure Case Manager Client to use the Workplace XT Add Document dialog box. You can configure this setting in WebSphere Application Server or from the IBM Case Manager administration client.

To configure the Add Document dialog box type from WebSphere Application Server administrative console:
  1. Start WebSphere Application Server administrative console.
  2. Navigate to Resource environment providers > Mashup Endpoints > Custom properties.
  3. Set the com.ibm.acm.client.XTDialogFlag value to True.
  4. Save your changes.

To configure the Add Document dialog box type from the IBM Case Manager administration client:
  1. Start the IBM Case Manager administration client and open the existing configuration profile.
  2. Open the Configure Bootstrap task.
  3. Select the Enable adding external files as documents check box.
  4. Save your changes.
  5. Run the task.
  6. Close the administration client.
