'keytool' is not recognized as an internal or external command

Troubleshooting


Problem

During the vCenter certificate import into Data Protection for VMware vSphere GUI server truststore, it is needed to list the directory contents to  verify that the certificate file key.jks is present in the directory  by running the below command.
On Microsoft Windows operating systems, it is located in
C:\IBM\StorageProtect\webserver\usr\servers\veProfile\resources\security


You need to specify the full path when you run the keytool command from the command line.
keytool -list -keystore key.jks -v

The below error appears:
'keytool' is not recognized as an internal or external command

Cause

This error usually means that the system can't find the keytool executable, which is part of the Java Development Kit (JDK)

Environment

IBM Storage Protect for Virtual Environments version 8.1.x on Microsoft Windows operating systems

Resolving The Problem

Please go to the below directory:
C:\Program Files\ibm\SpectrumProtect\Framework\VEGUI\scripts

Check the vmcli file and confirm that it has the below entry
set JAVA_PATH=C:\Program Files\Common Files\Tivoli\TSM\jvmxxxxxx\jre\bin

If the above entry has not been found set the java path as mentioned above .

Also ensure that the folder named jvmxxxxxx is accessible under the below path 
C:\Program Files\Common Files\Tivoli\TSM\jvmxxxxxx
