Question & Answer
Question
What Journal Code and Entry Types are created in combination with different RGZPFM command parameter ALWCANCEL value?
Answer
Depending on the RGZPFM command parameter ALWCANCEL value, different Journal code entry types are generated.
With ALWCANCEL(*NO) we will see F RG + F RM
F RG Physical file member reorganized (RGZPFM)
F RM Member reorganized
F RM Member reorganized
With ALWCANCEL(*YES) we will see F CE
F CE Change end of data for physical file member
You will also see many delete and insert entries as data is being moved in the file.
The goal of the reorg while active - ALWCANCEL(*YES) - is to move records, so all deleted rows go to the bottom of the file and then change the end of file. The entries seen are what is needed for replication.
This is how it works since the ALWCANCEL parameter was added in R530.
