Summary
After upgrading DASH, WebGUI, WebSphere, and the WebSphere SDK to SDK8 Websphere starts but DASH does not initialize. The DASH login page fails to load and gives the error:

SRVE0255E: A WebGroup/Virtual Host to handle /ibm/consol has not been defined.
###
No meaningful messages in the SystemOut or startServer log files. However FFDC logs written during the startup include messages like:

java.io.FileNotFoundException: /opt/IBM/netcool/gui/precision_gui/lib/shared_jars/.
###
###
javax.servlet.ServletException: HNMTB0002E=Error during initialisation
...
Caused by: java.lang.NullPointerException
