Java(TM) Plug-in fatal error at playback Rational Performance Tester script

Troubleshooting

Problem

Attempts to playback an HTTP script against an applet in Internet Explorer result in error "Cannot load class sun/plugin/JavaRunTime.".

Symptom

The full error message is as follows:

Java(TM) Plug-in fatal error

Cannot load class sun/plugin/JavaRunTime.

The bridge was installed at <C:\PROGRA~1\IBM\jave60\jre but the class is not there.

Modify the registry key to reflect the new bridge location

the key is HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Java Plug-in

or change your CLASSPATH to include the new directory.

Please consult the documentation for more information.

Cause

The applet uses Sun Java Runtime Environment (JRE). When you playback the script, the Browser tab in the Protocol Data View needs to use this JRE. This JRE is unavailable in this view.

Resolving The Problem

Disable real-time protocol data support for HTTP test.

To do so,

  1. click Window > Preferences > Test > HTTP Protocol Data View.

  2. Unselect the check box Enable real-time protocol data support for HTTP test.
