Question & Answer
Question
You are upgrading to DB2® Content Manager V8.3 Fix Pack 4 with a DB2 database. You are trying to connect to the library server database to configure it, but fail to get the connection. When you set the debug level to 3 using the option "-d 3" to get more detail messages, the following error occurs: 2007-10-25 17:33:29 cmcfgupls: TRACE -> Connecting JDBC:DB2:ICMNLSDB java.sql.SQLException: No suitable driver at java.sql.DriverManager.getConnection(DriverManager.java:579) at java.sql.DriverManager.getConnection(DriverManager.java:189) at com.ibm.cm.dbutil.ICMConfigureDB.connectToDB(ICMConfigureDB.java:233) at com.ibm.cm.dbutil.ICMConfigureDB.DatabaseOkay(ICMConfigureDB.java:827) at com.ibm.cm.dbutil.ICMConfigureDB.ValidateKeys(ICMConfigureDB.java:1203) at com.ibm.cm.dbutil.ICMUpgradeLSDB.start(ICMUpgradeLSDB.java:2475) at com.ibm.cm.dbutil.cmcfgdbu.startSilentMode(cmcfgdbu.java:176) at com.ibm.cm.dbutil.cmcfgdbu.startConfig(cmcfgdbu.java:253) at com.ibm.cm.dbutil.cmcfgdbu.main(cmcfgdbu.java:269) 2007-10-25 17:33:29 cmcfgupls: DEBUG -> Could not obtain a connection No suitable driver How can you solve this problem? The following command line is an example of how you can use option "-d 3" to get debug messages: "/opt/IBM/db2cmv8/config/cmcfgls" -d 3 -c "/opt/IBM/db2cmv8/fixpack/cm/8.3.00.400/cmfpcfg.param" -l "/opt/IBM/db2cmv8/fixpack/cm/8.3.00.400/log/fpinstall.log" The command must be run as root user. You can see the error on the log file "/opt/IBM/db2cmv8/fixpack/cm/8.3.00.400/log/fpinstall.log". "/opt/IBM/db2cmv8/fixpack/cm/8.3.00.400/cmfpcfg.param" is the parameter file that is generated to configure DB2 Content Manager during an upgrade by calling the installation interface.
