"Java Plug-in Fatal Error" when running RFT scripts

Troubleshooting


Problem

Attempts to run IBM Rational Functional Tester scripts results in the error "Java Plug-in Fatal Error".

Symptom

After installing JRE for application under test, every time when execute Rational Functional Tester script, the playback will fail with below error.


Java(TM) Plug-in Fatal Error

Cannot load class sun/plugin/JavaRunTime.

The bridge was installed at <C:\Program~1\Java\J2 RE16~1.0_0> but the class is not there
modify the registry key to reflect the new bridge location
the key is HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Java Plug-in
or change your CLASSPATH to include the new directory.


Manual operations on the application without Rational Functional Tester doesn't have this error. Web browser and JRE have been enabled in Rational Functional Tester and pass the test. Reinstall the JRE doesn't resolve the problem either.
