A Java out of memory error might result when deployment manager server maximum heap size is not set to at least 1024 megabytes

Troubleshooting

Problem

When the deployment manager filters events, you might encounter a java.lang.OutOfMemoryError. The out of memory error occurs because the maximum heap size is not large enough or is set to zero.

Symptom

You may encounter a java.lang.OutOfMemoryError when the deployment manager filters events in the network deployment (ND) environment.

Cause

The maximum heap size must be at least 1024 megabytes. If you leave the value for maximum heap size on the deployment manager server empty, a java.lang.OutOfMemoryError might result.

Resolving The Problem

To avoid this problem, complete the following steps in the administrative console to set the maximum heap size to at least 1024 megabytes:

  1. In the navigation panel, click System Administration > Deployment Manager > Process definition.
  2. Under Additional Properties, click Java Virtual Machine.
  3. Type 1024 in the Maximum Heap Size field.
  4. Save the changes to the master repository.
  5. Restart all servers, node agents, and the deployment manager.
