JALE error (101) JCO_ERROR_CONFIGURATION: Initialization of destination (server name) failed.

Troubleshooting

Problem

JALE error (101) JCO_ERROR_CONFIGURATION: Initialization of destination (server name) failed.

Symptom

JALE error (101) JCO_ERROR_CONFIGURATION: Initialization of destination (server name) failed, even though server name can be pinged successfully.

Cause

JALE connection parameter is missing -c switch.

Diagnosing The Problem

Review JALE connection parameter and confirm that the hard coded value is pingable, but still fails from the command. While this parameter was not used in the older SAP Pack, from the Websphere Transformation Extender Pack for SAP R3 Information Center topic Connection Commands, it shows the following required connection commands for JALE and ALE sources for SAP Pack 8.3.2.x

The following adapter commands are required for an ALE source when
connecting to an SAP R/3 system and the Saprfc.ini file is not used.
Each adapter command is used to provide the necessary connection
information required by the SAP system.

For JALE:
-U usr_id -p pwd -h host_name -s sys_num -c clnt_num
-A pgm_id -G gtwy_name -X gtwy_conn

Resolving The Problem

JALE error (101) JCO_ERROR_CONFIGURATION: Initialization of destination (server name) failed can occur when -c switch is missing.
