Troubleshooting

Problem

Impromptu Web Reports Series 7 (7.0) Description: Attempting to Start the Cognos IWR Service Manager service from the services window results in the error: Could not start the Cognos IWR Service Manager (cer2) service on Local Computer. The service did not return an error. This could be an internal Windows error or an internal service error. The Application Event Viewer log contains this error: SERVERNAME, 3740(1278), 2003/04/22 15:20:07.054; Error: 0, Generic; Process ID: 3740; Thread: 4728; Host: SERVERNAME; Text: The database was not found servername:E:\Program Files\Cognos\cer2\iwr\database\iwr70.db (err_database_not_found) ; BackTrace Info: 1. File Name: Y:\src\iwr\IWR\IWRObjects\iwrostore.cpp; Line#:186; Desc.:The database was not found servername:E:\Program Files\Cognos\cer2\iwr\database\iwr70.db (err_database_not_found) ; 2. File Name: Y:\src\iwr\IWR\ServiceManager\Service\servicemanager.cpp; Line#:823; Desc.:An error occurred attempting to open the database.; The Object Store services start successfully, and other Cognos products appear unaffected. Solution: The service IWR Service Manager cannot find the iwr70.db file. Verify that the file exists and is in the IWR Data Store directory (..Cognos\cer2\iwr\database by default). In Configuration Manager, the IWR Data Store location is set at IBM Cognos Impromptu Web Reports, Common, Database. If a known valid backup of the IWR Data Store exists, restore the IWR db files. If no known back up exists, you will need to recreate the Data Store and republish Report Sets.
