Item Descriptions
Many pages in Execution list the item-level description for yourshipment or order. You can use this feature to quickly view the contentsof your shipment.
For example an electronics retailer might view the Shipments tabto see that a shipment contains DVD players.
Shipment and Order Descriptions
Sterling TMS displays theitem description for both shipments and orders:
- If the shipment or order contains a single item Sterling TMS displays thatdescription.
- Many shipments and orders consist of multiple items. Sterling TMS displays thefirst item description followed by a plus sign (+).
Options for Submitting Item Descriptions
Ashipper has the following options for submitting the item description:
- If you create your shipments online specify the description whenyou add shipping units and items for each order.
- If you submit shipments using EDI the item description appearsin the L502 segment of the EDI 204 transaction.
- If you submit shipments using XML the item description appearsin the Product line item of the Product Description.
