Troubleshooting
Problem
VTAMA and VTAMB are pure network nodes in the same NETID. LUA is a Session Manager LU and is defined to VTAM in an APPL major node. The Session Manager issues a REQSESS to initiate a session from LUA to LUB on VTAMB. This generates an INIT OTHER on VTAMA to start the session. This session continually fails with sense 087F0001 being issued for ISTAPNCP.
Symptom
IST663I INIT OTHER REQUEST FAILED, SENSE=087D0001
IST664I REAL OLU=NETA.LUA REAL DLU=NETA.LUB
IST889I SID = xxxxxxxxxxxxxx
IST1705I SORDER = APPN FROM START OPTION
IST1705I SSCPORD = PRIORITY FROM START OPTION
IST894I ADJSSCPS TRIED FAILURE SENSE ADJSSCPS TRIED FAILURE SENSE
IST895I ISTAPNCP 087F0001 VTAM1 08420000
IST895I VTAM2 08420000 VTAM3 08260000
IST314I END
Cause
The OLU LUA was defined on VTAMA and was also defined as an application on VTAMB. The initial locate sent to VTAMB returned found information for LUB. When VTAMA used the found information and initiated a session to LUB the request failed on LUB because the OLU LUA was also defined on VTAMB.
Diagnosing The Problem
Display the OLU resource on the DLU host and see if the name is defined on that VTAM.
Resolving The Problem
Deactivate the application major node on the DLU host that contains the OLU application name of LUA.
