Issuing queries using Microsoft SQL Server Query Analyzer against a DB2 UDB-linked server using OLEDB

Question & Answer

Question

[

IBM® DB2® products do not implement catalogs in the same way that SQL Server does. For this reason, when querying a DB2 UDB database from within SQL Server using the IBM native OLEDB driver, all four parts of the naming convention cannot be used. The catalog portion of the naming is not meaningful, and does not allow the query to get to the correct data source.
