Question & Answer
Question
Which standard is used to set the minimum & maximum values of metrics used at different levels in a Logiscope Quality Checker Project ?
Answer
ISO 9126-1 standard defines the Software Quality Model and the definition of Reliability, Maintainability, Analyzability and Changeability which are used in the Quality Checker (audit) report of Logiscope.
However ISO 9126 standard doesn’t specify the metrics to be used and the associated thresholds.
The choice of the metrics and thresholds (MIX MAX values) is based on the expertise of Telelogic in the analysis of source code.
The metrics and thresholds (MIX MAX values) are defined after analyzing thousands of files in Logiscope over a period of more than 20 years and after making lots of statistical studies.
No statement is made that the complete quality model in Logiscope is based on ISO 9126. Rather, that the division into metrics, criteria and factors is based on the standard (as are some of the actual metrics/factors/criteria).
So the implementation is standards based in generic terms, but not necessarily in specific ones. Also Logiscope allows us to change the threshold values based on our requirement.
