ISAM Front End Load Balancer Virtual Server Name Syntax

Troubleshooting

Problem

After configuring an ISAM Front End Load Balancer (FELB) the saved changes do not deploy successfully.

Symptom

When creating a Virtual Server in the ISAM Front End Load Balancer the Virtual Server Name value can be entered and saved with spaces in the name. For example in the LMI follow the menus:

Manage System Settings -> Network Settings Front End Load Balancer -> Servers tab -> New button. In the "Add Virtual Server" panel's "General" tab enter text in the "Name" field, for example this could be: "My Server". Once the remainder of the Virtual Server and associated FELB configurations are made then, when the changes are saved, these will be accepted and saved correctly. However when the changes are deployed the LMI returns the error message:

"The system encountered an error while it was attempting to apply the changes, and has reverted all values to the previous state. Contact IBM Customer Support."

Resolving The Problem

The syntax for the Virtual Server Name must be treated as if it were a server host name, it must not be set to contain any space characters.
