On an IPv6-only system, the installation program fails to launch with the following error message: "The IP address cannot be resolved on this machine.."

Troubleshooting

Problem

On an IPv6-only system, the installation program cannot be launched because it fails to resolve the IP address of the system. It gives the following information, even though the hosts file might be configured correctly: 1. /etc/hosts #127.0.0.1 loopback localhost # loopback (lo0) name/address ::1 loopback localhost # IPv6 loopback 2001:db8::1001 server-a server-a.example.com 2. root@server-a /data2/ISBuilds/is-suite # ./setup The IP address cannot be resolved on this machine, please contact your network administrator to correct the network configuration and retry.
