INZOPT Command Parameters for RDX Devices

Troubleshooting

Problem

Provide command parameters to initialize an optical volume for a Removable Mass Storage Device (RDX).

Resolving The Problem

A Removable Mass Storage Device (RDX) uses media format *UDF; however, there is not an option on the INZOPT command for RMS devices at version 7.1. This will be available in later releases. You should use the default media format of *MEDTYPE,

Example

INZOPT NEWVOL(xxxxx) DEV(RMSyy) CHECK(*NO) TYPE (*PRIMARY) MEDFMT(*MEDTYPE)

Where xxxxxx is the volume name and yy is a 2-digit number associated with the device name.

This results in the following attributes in the DSPOPT command:

Media type . . . . . . . . . . . . . :   *UNKNOWN
Media format . . . . . . . . . . . . :   *UDF

Note: Technology Refresh group PTF SF99707 is required for this function, minimum level is 6. In addition, cumulative package c2279710 or higher and PTFs SI46733 and SI47051 should be installed on the IBM i.

Note: For additional information on answers to usage questions on RDX drives, refer to the IBM i Media Wiki at the following link:
