Question
The "more" command fails with a message of "Invalid wide character" when the command is used to read the Apply log file.
Cause
The SQLERRMC component of the SQL communications area (SQLCA) contains one or more tokens, separated by the characters X'FF'. These characters are substituted for variables in the descriptions of error conditions. The X'FF' characters will cause an "Invalid wide character" error if the log contain this message.
Answer
Use the od -txc <filename> command to view the log file.
