IBM Support

Invalid keystore format error when using ikeyman on ISAM 7

Troubleshooting

Problem

After installing IBM Security Access Manager for Web 7.0, and attempting to load the pdsrv.kdb within the IBM Key Management (ikeyman) utlity, an error is displayed: 'An IO Exception has occurred: Invalid keystore format".

Cause

Java 6 that is shipped with ISAM 7 does not support CMS format being used by the pdsrv.kdb; therefore, ikeyman will not load kdb files. Because of this, ISAM 7 does not ship the ikeyman utility in GSKIT 8. However, JAVA 6 does ship the ikeyman utility and therefore might be used by mistake with ISAM 7.

Resolving The Problem

IBM Security Access Manager for Web 7.0 does not support using ikeyman to manage KDB when using Java 6.

Please use the GSKIT Command-line interface to manage the KDB files used by WebSEAL or use ikeyman with Java version 5.
