Invalid block headers backup to a Quantum VTL with dedup enabled

Troubleshooting

Problem

Invalid block header errors received when using a Quantum VTL with Quantum instream dedup enabled.

Symptom

ANR9999D_1464158388 ComBlockHeaderValid(pvrgts.c: 6287) Thread<355355>: Invalid block header read from volume volname. (magic=0000, ver=0, Hdr blk=0 <expected ####>)

The magic, ver and HDR blk values were all reported as 0.

Environment

Quantum DXi8500 VTL Firmware 2.1.0 (6552-44258 Build40) with Quantum dedup enabled.

Resolving The Problem

Update write_max_sync_delay=3600000 in /opt/DXi/bpw/bin/bpwutil

In /etc/init.d/bpwd Add the following to the TUNABLES
-Xwrite_max_sync_delay=3600000

The original setting was 5000 milliseconds.  This value controls when bpwd will decide that blockpool is taking too long to write a page and will therefore write to the commit log instead.
