Affected configurations

The following NOS(es) are affected:
- SUSE LINUX Standard Server 8
Solution
The process for installing SLSTD8 is the same as for SLES8 with the following exceptions:
- After finishing with the Language Selection screen, you will see the Utilization Purposes screen. Select the type of installation for your server.
- After configuring your desktop settings at the Desktop Settings screen, you will come to a screen where you must provide the applicable settings for your server and network functions. The screens that are displayed and the steps that you follow are dynamic based on your previous selections (as referenced in the first deviation above). For each screen, select or type the necessary information for your network, then select Next.
- When all network settings are entered, select Finish.
Additional information
SLSTD8, when installed with Service Pack 3 or higher, is functionally the same as SLES8 from a hardware and software certification standpoint, except for the fact that SLSTD8 contains some additional network configuration tools that require additional steps in the installation process.
