Question

How to install or update the IBM Data Studio client with the IBM Installation Manager?

Answer

Installing IBM Data Studio 4.1.4
  1. Download the installer with the following contents from IBM Passport Advantage Online:
    1. Installation Manager 64-bit compressed file
    2. IBM Data Studio 4.1.4 compressed file
    3. Documentation folder
    4. Enterprise deployment folder (for silent installation)
  2. If you use the Installation Manager, update it to the latest version (1.9.1.6), and install Data Studio.
    For more information, refer to How to install IBM Data Studio 4.1.4.
  3. If you do not have the Installation Manager, install it before installing Data Studio.

Important
  • Data Studio 4.1.3: Eclipse is upgraded to Eclipse Photon 4.8.
  • Upgrading Data Studio 4.1.3 to 4.1.4 is not supported.

Installing IBM Data Studio 4.1.3 and earlier
  1. Start Installation Manager.
  2. From the Start page, go to File > Preferences, and click Repositories. The page shows the available repositories, their locations, and whether they are accessible.
  3. Click Add Repository and browse to the Data Studio base version location.
    Make sure you locate the extracted files and not just the compressed file location.
  4. Select the disktag.inf file and click Open. For example,
    D:\DS\DS install\DS_Setup_413\DS_Setup_413\disk1 \diskTag.inf
  5. Click OK to add this as a repository.
  6. Click Apply and then OK. Make sure that the selected repository is checked in the repositories and that other repositories are unchecked.
  7. Click Install if you want to install a new setup or click on Update.
  8. Select IBM Data Studio client from the installed packages.
Important
  • Data Studio 4.1.3: Eclipse is upgraded to Eclipse Neon 4.6.3.
  • Upgrading Data Studio 4.1.2 to 4.1.3 is not supported.
