Installing DB2 Query Workload Tuner for z/OS V5.1.1

In the details that follow, replace <platform> with your platform:
- For AIX, use aix. The downloaded file has the extension .tgz.
- For Linux x86-64, use linux-x86_64. The downloaded file has the extension .tgz.
- For Linux on Power Systems (little endian), use plinux-le. The downloaded file has the extension .tgz.
- For Linux on System z, use zlinux. The downloaded file has the extension .tgz.
- For Windows, use win64. The downloaded file has the extension .zip.
New installation of DB2 Query Workload Tuner for z/OS V5.1.1
All install packages are available from Fix Central, the official website for IBM product fix packs. Fix ID are listed as below.

To complete your first installation of DB2 Query Workload Tuner for z/OS V5.1.1:
- From the Fix Central home page, click the Find Product tab.
- In the Product Selector field, enter DB2 Query Workload Tuner for zOS. When a matching result is found, click the option from the drop-down list box.
- From the Installed Version drop-down box, select the version from which you wish to upgrade.
- From the Platform drop-down box, select All or the option for the platform you want to download. Click Continue.
- Confirm Browse for fixes is selected and click Continue.
Note: You can also select Individual fix IDs and input one of the fix IDs listed above, to find the right install package for your platform. - Click the check box to the left of the package you want to download and click Continue. You will need to enter an IBM ID to perform the download.
- Extract the package contents. The extracted package expands into an /ibm-datasrvrmgr installation directory. For example, if you extract the package contents into C:\, the DB2 Query Workload Tuner for z/OS V5.1.1 product expands into C:\ibm-datasrvrmgr. For the remainder of this Tech Note, the installation directory is referred to as <installdirectory>.
- If you want a silent installation, change the default values in the <installdirectory>\setup.conf file of your extracted package prior to installing.
Note: To enable DB2 Query Workload Tuner for z/OS features, apply the license activation kit (LAK) included with your order. See Applying IBM DB2 Query Workload Tuner for z/OS license activation kits below for instructions. When finished, continue from step 4. - From the installation directory, run the setup script and follow the prompts. To run in a terminal window, run the following command:
setup -silent - Log in to DB2 Query Workload Tuner for z/OS.
- From the Navigation bar, click Settings >Manage Connections.
- From the Database Connection pane, select the z/OS connection for which that you want to enable the Query Workload Tuner license, and click Activate License.
- Click the URL in the DB2 Edition column to display the current supported capabilities in the Capabilities column. For example, if you have applied your DB2 Query Workload Tuner for z/OS license to that connection, you will see DSM_ENTERPRISE_Z_TUNE in the Capabilities column.
Note: You can use HTTPS with SSL security exclusively to connect to your DB2 Query Workload Tuner for z/OS server. To do this, set the following values in the <installdirectory>/Config/dswebserver.properties file: - cookie.secureOnly=true
- port=-1
Applying IBM DB2 Query Workload Tuner for z/OS V5.1.1 license activation kits
Apply a license activation kit (LAK) to enable enhanced query tuning features.
To apply an LAK:
- Download the entitled license activation kit package from Shopz.
Note: If you are upgrading from DB2 Query Workload Tuner for z/OS Version 5.1, you can use your existing LAK to active your upgrade.
Use ibm-db2querywkldtnr-5.1.1-license-activation-kit-<platform>. The plinux-le and zlinux platforms share the same LAK as linux-x86_64. - Stop your current DB2 Query Workload Tuner for z/OS server or service. If your current version is running as a Windows service, run <installdirectory>/bin/stopservice. Otherwise, run <installdirectory>/bin/stop.sh.
- To verify that the server is stopped, run <installdirectory>/bin/status.
- Apply the license activation kit:
Extract each entitled LAK into your install directory. Allow files to be overwritten and replaced. For example, the Config, dscomponents, and license folders in the LAK should be extracted to the Config, dscomponents and license folders in your installation directory. - From the install directory, run the setup script to start the DB2 Query Workload Tuner server or service. If your new installation is running as a Windows service, run <installdirectory>/bin/startservice. Otherwise, run <installdirectory>/bin/start.sh.
Your DB2 Query Workload Tuner for z/OS V5.1.1 license activation kits have been applied.
