Troubleshooting
Problem
When attempting to install ITCAM for WebSphere Application Server 7.0 on Linux, the GUI installation program fails to start.
Symptom
You might get a message similar to the following:
The installer is unable to run in graphical mode. Try running the installer with the -console or -silent flag.
If you append the option "-is:log <log_path>" to the installation command, for example:
./setup_MS.bin -is:log /tmp/ms.log
Then a message similar to the following can be found in the <log_path> file:
1>>/tmp/ms.log 2>>/tmp/istemp938070102154712/APP_STDERR
And a message similar to the following can be found in the /tmp/istemp*/APP_STDERR file:
An error occurred during wizard bean change notification:
java.lang/UnstatisfiedLinkError:
/opt/sw/ITCAMMSzlin/java/jre/bin/libawt.so: libXmu.so.6
Cause
Required operating system packages for Linux are missing. The lack of prerequisite X Window RPM packages will cause the Java Swing GUI program to fail to work normally. The lack of a PAM RPM package will cause an authenticate utility return error, which will block installation.
Resolving The Problem
1. Ensure that the X Window System package group is installed. ITCAM for WebSphere Application Server product require RPMs that are installed with the X Window System package group in Linux systems.
2. Ensure that the following RPMs are installed, according to the version of your Linux operating system:

If you create your own product CD from an ISO image or by copying the actual CD, perform the following steps to verify that the Java 2 SDK on the product CD-ROM is working correctly:
- Navigate to the <Your_Image_Path>/java/jre/bin directory on the product CD-ROM. For example: cd /mnt/ITCAM/image/ITCAMMSxlin/java/jre/bin
- Verify the Java 2 SDK version. Type the following command:
- ./java -version
If the command completes successfully with no errors, the Java 2 SDK is intact.
