Installation Manager (IM) fixes fail to install

Problem

Installation Manager (IM) fixes fail to install with the following error in maintenance plugin version 2.1.11.0:     Error/exception during _aroundMultipleMaintenanceScript():(,     TypeError("cannot concatenate 'str' and 'bool' objects",), This error could occur when applying an IM fix as an operation in the Instance Console, or during deployment if an IM fix is added to the Interim fix policy of a pattern.

Symptom

If a pattern contains an IM, the deployment of that pattern fails.

Resolving The Problem

A new maintenance plugin version 2.1.11.1 to fix a problem with the installation of IM fixes is available to Fix Central. For more information on this fix, see:

This maintenance fix is provided for IBM® PureApplication® System, IBM® PureApplication® Software, and IBM® PureApplication® Service.

This fix corrects problems in maintenance plugin version 2.1.11.0, where Installation Manager (IM) fixes fail to install with an error.

After upgrading to IBM® PureApplication® version 2.2.5.1, download and install this maintenance plug-in from Fix Central. Use these steps.

  • Installation instructions:
    1. From the PureApplication® System console, click Catalog > System Plug-ins from the dashboard.
    2. View details about the maintenance plugin. Check that the maintenance plugin version 2.1.11.0 is installed.
      Note: Do not proceed if this version of the maintenance plugin is not installed.
    3. In the Catalog > System Plug-ins page, click the + (plus) icon to import a new system plug-in.
    4. Select the maintenance plugin version 2.1.11.1 that is downloaded from Fix Central.
  • Update Maintenance Plug-in in existing deployed instances:
    If there are existing deployments that use the maintenance plugin version 2.1.11.0, these deployments need to be updated to use the plugin version 2.1.11.1 or the installation or IM fixes would fail. To update these deployed instances:
    1. From the PureApplication® System console, click Patterns > Virtual System Instances. The Virtual Systems Instances page displays the list of virtual system instances that are currently available.
    2. Select the virtual instance or the deployed instance from the list. Details about the selected instance are displayed.
    3. Locate the Pattern type field and click Check for updates to see whether any updates are available.
      If the instance was deployed using version 2.1.11.0 of the maintenance plugin, you will see an option to update the maintenance plugin to version 2.1.11.1.
    4. Click OK to proceed and wait for the update process to finish.
      Note: The update involves rebooting of the virtual machines, so this operation may need to be run during a scheduled maintenance window.
