Abstract
If Information Server 11.3 or 11.3.1 is installed with WebSphere Application Server 8.5.5.3 or earlier, WebSphere Application Server Fix Pack 4 or later must be applied before attempting to install JR50424 which is included in Fix Pack 1 and Fix Pack 2 for Information Server
Content
InfoSphere Information Server 11.3.1.1 and 11.3.1.2 includes the fix for JR50424 which requires WAS APAR PI18109 (first available in WAS 8.5.5.4).
To completely resolve JR50424, WebSphere Application Server 8.5.5.4 (Fix Pack 4) or later must be applied.
If WAS 8.5.5.4 (Fix Pack 4) or later is not installed prior to installing Information Server 11.3.1.1 or later, several issues can be encountered :
1. Fix Pack Installation for 11.3 or 11.3.1 can fail with the message:
SEVERE: com.ibm.is.install.update.installer.Updater
java.lang.Exception: Exit Code: 1, Error: Error The following exception has occurred:
CDISF0005E: To log in, you must have at least one of the following roles: SuiteUser.
As a result of this Fix Pack installation failure, when exiting the installation of the Fix Pack, it may not be possible to login to Information Server, receiving an error such as:
"You are not authorized to login. You need the Suite User role in order to login"
To resolve this, apply WebSphere Application Server 8.5.5.4 (Fix Pack 4) or later and reinstall the Information Server Fix Pack.
2. If the Fix Pack installation succeeded, but the login to Information Server subsequently fails with:
"You are not authorized to login. You need the Suite User role in order to login"
Or if when viewing a LDAP group within the Information Server web console, an exception appears:
"The server encountered an unexpected condition which prevented it from fulfilling the request. Click here to go back to the previous page"
To resolve this, apply WebSphere Application Server 8.5.5.4 (Fix Pack 4) or later.
3. If installing the full suite image of 11.3.1.1 or later, if the WebSphere Application Server security registry is switched to Federated Repositories and LDAP Attribute Mapping is implemented, it may not be possible to login to Information Server, receiving an error such as:
"You are not authorized to login. You need the Suite User role in order to login"
To resolve this, apply WebSphere Application Server 8.5.5.4 (Fix Pack 4) or later.
Steps to apply WebSphere Application Server 8.5.5.4 (Fix Pack 4):
Please follow the instructions on the WebSphere Application Server 8.5.5.4 download document to download and install the fix pack.
One possible method of installation is included below:
Download WAS Fix Pack 4 from Fix Central and extract the files to a directory. This directory will become value of the -repositories argument below.
Navigate to where the Information Server media is located (or some other version of imcl)
Depending on your WAS installation, you may need to download additional packages. To resolve this issue, you need to at least install:
cd /media/ISMedia/is-suite/payloads/Shared/WAS/payload/WAS/agentInstaller/tools
./imcl install com.ibm.websphere.ND.v85 -installationDirectory /opt/IBM/WebSphere/AppServer -repositories /PathToFixPack4Download/ -acceptLicense
